You Have a Dream! What Now? Part 2: Revitalising Your Existence
You Have a Dream is the first of sixteen chapters of StartUp Space and explores ways to magnify human capabilities.
StartUp Space is an entrepreneur's need-to-know guidebook that instructs entrepreneurs on starting and running a business by visualising its structure and information flows.
From Standby to Intellectual Adventure
The brain works as a device with switches that aren't simply binary but operate with a range of intensity, much like a dimmer light switch.
We must turn appropriate mental switches onto the "ON" position to maximise the output of the intricate grey and white matter network in our head – a brain.
Unlocking success requires stirring the brain's sophisticated grey-and-white matter into action. It's about shifting our mental switches from desire to creativity. Like a dimmer switch, these cognitive controls are not just on or off but also operate in a spectrum.
The more we slide its controls up, the more illumination they cast on our dormant abilities. The objective is to dive deep into this labyrinthine network, probe its depths, and use mental switches to amplify its power to its peak.
Activating Circuitry of Creativity
The mind is a maze of mental switches, some of which lie within easy reach - desire, determination, creativity, while others exist in the recesses of our consciousness. Triggering these switches initiates a domino effect that reaches into potent currents circulating through the mind's vast network.
To start the process, we need first to activate switches that are readily accessible: desire, determination, belief, creativity, flexibility, and others that control more primary abilities.
Charting Intellectual Continuum
Our mental expansion is a discovery process of pressing these switches to detect new paths and connect them to trigger hidden forces. Each switch we press reveals circuits that lead to sub-switches.
Pressing switches is not a complex process. We do it constantly as we try to understand something contemplative.
Circuits extend our reach deeper and deeper into our inert capabilities. As we activate and adjust these mental switches, our cognitive reach extends further into the reservoir of our abilities.
The journey doesn't have an endpoint; it's a perpetual expansion, reaching for horizons only limited by our willingness to go deeper. With each deliberate push, a world of new insights unfolds.
The art is in the pressing switches and the continuous fine-tuning.
The mental universe we navigate is as boundless as the natural universe, and each adjustment is a step towards realising our dreams. It's an arrangement of mental energy where the dream becomes more apparent with every adjustment.
What we achieve inwardly shapes outer reality.
Composing the Synaptic Symphony
We engage in a tuning process daily; each attempt to learn or understand more sends currents across synapses, lighting up the dark corners of our capability. The flow of energy through these circuits isn't arbitrary - it's a carefully orchestrated symphony of the mind, each adjustment fine-tuning our mental machinery to integrate our dreams with reality.
Progressively, we expand the reach of our minds to grasp new insights.
Once you experience and internalise the benefits of pressing those switches, you will press and tune them ad infinitum. The more of them you press and tune, the closer to your vision you get.
An infinite number of permutations and outcomes depend on the sequence in which you press switches and the intensity you set them. Each choice and adjustment can lead to limitless outcomes. We chose as we go along.
The Mastery of Shaping Destiny
Consider yourself a flawed block of marble and an artisan of your fate, akin to Michelangelo, who saw a block of marble and an infinity of statues within.
Michelangelo's David stands as a testament to this idea. Our potential, too, is infinite, awaiting the chisel of our will to unveil the figures straining to get out of our essence.
We are sculptors with the power to carve out our destiny.
The statue of David, who defeated the giant Goliath, was sculptured by Michelangelo Buonarroti out of a flawed block of marble previously rejected by two other sculptors.
In once a neglected piece of marble, Michelangelo saw the hero that would come to symbolise the triumph of intellect and courage over brute strength. He also imparted into the sculpture spirit of a proud and fearless man.
This piece of partially carved rock was lying around rejected for forty years until 1501 when Michelangelo took a chisel and hammer to it. By 1504, he sculptured one of the most famous statues in history.
Michelangelo carved David out of this particular block of marble because he was commissioned to do so. He could also have carved Goliath, Moses - which he also sculptured, or any other object his imagination conceived.
Michelangelo said that marble, which is not yet carved, can hold the form of any artist's thought. As the possibilities of shapes Michelangelo could carve were infinite, so were the ways we could shape ourselves.
Becoming the Sculptor's Vision
The act of shaping ourselves is our most unbelievable creation. It's a labour of love, patience, and determination. With each chip of the chisel and stroke of creativity, we bring forth more of our potential.
The marble we work on is the substance of our lives; the sculptures we create testify to the creativity and ambition that drive us. This is the art of living - the masterpiece of ourselves, constantly being shaped and polished, gradually revealing its glory.
Just as Michelangelo summoned David from marble, we can chisel our destinies to carve out our potential in infinite ways. Our minds are the marble; our determination and creativity are the chisels.
With them, we shape our being and reality into the masterpiece we aspire to become.
